Patagonia Wind & Glacier Wilderness: A 10-Day Trekker's Paradise
Patagonia is raw, wild, and incredibly humbling. This itinerary focuses on the highlight trails of Torres del Paine (Chile) and El Chaltén (Argentina) at a deliberate, steady pace.
Day 1: Portal to the Wild — Puerto Natales
Arrive in Puerto Natales. Gather gear, enjoy a hearty patagonian lamb dinner, and look out over the Seno Última Esperanza.
Day 2: Torres del Paine Entrance & Lake Pehoé
Travel into the national park. Take the catamaran across the turquoise waters of Lake Pehoé to your lodge.
Day 3: French Valley Day Hike
Hike into the French Valley, a natural amphitheater of granite cliffs and hanging glaciers. Listen to the thunderous crack of ice calving in the distance.
Day 4: Grey Glacier Lookout
Trek along the edge of Lake Grey to view the massive blue face of Grey Glacier. Take a boat close to the ice towers.
Day 5: Transfer to El Calafate
Cross the border into Argentina. Rest and recover in El Calafate, situated on the shores of Lake Argentino.
Day 6: Perito Moreno Glacier
Walk the boardwalks of Perito Moreno. Watch giant blocks of ice crash into the water below.
Day 7: El Chaltén - The Hiking Capital
Travel to the quiet outpost of El Chaltén. Unwind in a cozy mountain pub.
Day 8: Laguna de los Tres & Mount Fitz Roy
Embark on the classic hike to Laguna de los Tres. Watch the morning sun turn the granite spires of Fitz Roy orange.
Day 9: Laguna Torre Trail
Enjoy a gentler hike along the river valley to Laguna Torre, where icebergs float in a glacial lake.
Day 10: Farewell Patagonia
Depart El Chaltén for your flight home out of El Calafate.
